The Metamorphoses is an epic poem written by the ancient Roman poet Ovid. This classic chronicles the history of the world from its creation

The work is a collection of mythological and legendary stories, many taken from Greek sources, in which transformation (metamorphosis) plays a role, however minor. Ovid‘s “Metamorphoses” was an immediate success in its day, its popularity threatening even that of Vergil‘s “Aeneid”. One can even imagine it being used as a teaching tool for Roman children, from which they could learn important stories that explain their world, as well as learn about their glorious emperor and his ancestors.
